Spring Normal University Holds First Provisional Graduation Ceremony

The Spring Normal University, operating under the Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government (NUG), held its first provisional graduation ceremony on July 8, 2023.

The event was attended by Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Union Minister of Education, and Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun, Deputy Minister of Education, along with university council members, department heads, and graduating students.

Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the university’s role in shaping the future of education amid Myanmar’s ongoing political transition. Deputy Minister Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun followed with an introductory address.

As part of the ceremony, Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun awarded provisional certificates to 20 graduating students, marking a significant milestone for the institution.

Guest Professor Dr. Thein Lwin also addressed the graduates, encouraging them to continue their commitment to education and national development. A student representative and a faculty member expressed gratitude on behalf of the graduating class and the university community.

Spring Normal University was established on September 7, 2021, bringing together educators from the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), including faculty from the Yangon University of Education, Sagaing University of Education, and the University for the Development of National Races.

The university aims to provide alternative education opportunities for teachers and students affected by the ongoing political crisis in Myanmar.
